Wax Melts
Rosie & B wax melts are scented squares of plant-based wax, that are crafted using the finest fragrance oils and a wax blend of responsibly-sourced coconut and rapeseed oils. Each Rosie & B wax melt is designed to provide at least 12 hours of fragrance. They do not contain any additives; they are simple and pure, with no colouring, glitter or embellishments — just the wax and the gorgeous fragrance!
A card with guidance on using your wax melts, and advice on product care, is included with your purchase.
HOW DO WAX MELTS AND WAX MELT WARMERS WORK?
When wax melts are heated from below they gradually melt and release their gorgeous fragrance into the surrounding air. They are melted using either a tea light or electric warmer. Warmers that use a tea light as their heat source can be more aesthetically pleasing as the fragrance is accompanied by the soft glow of the tea light flame which creates a special ambiance. But if you prefer to be flame-free then investing in an electric warmer is your best bet.
WAX MELTS V. CANDLES
Wax melts and scented candles are both popular home fragrance products that make a home inviting and create a special fragranced ambiance. But they work in different ways and there are several reasons why you might choose one over the other.
Wax melts and candles both require a heat source to function, however they do their job in different ways:
Wax melts require direct heat from below, which warms the wax and encourages the release of fragrance. The wax is not consumed as a fuel so it remains, even after the fragrance has finally faded.
Candles work through a combustion reaction that uses the wax as a fuel; the scented wax is drawn up through the candle wick, and the wax molecules are vaporised by the heat of the candle flame and distributed into the surrounding air.
To get the best from a candle, specific steps need to be taken by the consumer to avoid common problems such as tunnelling, sooting and overheating, and as candles burn down they need looking after. Wax melts, on the other hand, are much simpler to use - it’s as easy as placing the melt on the dish of your warmer and lighting an unscented tea light or switching on your electric warmer.
Because wax melts are warmed by direct heat, they tend to have a more reliable fragrance throw; and a wax melt typically does a better job of filling a space with fragrance.
WHAT TYPE OF WAX WARMER SHOULD I USE?
There are a lot of wax warmers available on the market, and they vary greatly in terms of their design, quality and performance. There are a few important factors to consider when choosing a wax warmer.
If you opt for a tea light warmer, it is important to be sure that it is designed for use with wax melts, rather than oil. The most suitable warmers have a generous distance from the tea light flame to the dish of the warmer, along with a design that facilitates air flow and prevents an excessive buildup of heat. If a warmer is not tall enough and does not allow heat to dissipate then the wax will overheat and too much fragrance will be released, too quickly and with too much intensity. The wax warmers available on the Rosie & B website have been tested thoroughly to ensure that they meet these important requirements.
If you prefer to be flame-free then an electric warmer might be a good choice. The heat source in an electric warmer will either be a heat plate or a light bulb (in which case the warmer will also function as a lamp). The choice is yours, but do bear in mind that some light bulbs are banned from sale in the UK.
Electric warmers need to be able to generate enough heat in order to melt a wax melt sufficiently. Those sold with 25W bulbs or less will not do this, and for the same reason LED bulbs cannot be used as replacement bulbs.
WHAT TEA LIGHTS SHOULD I USE?
For many tea light warmers a 1.5cm, 4 hour tea light is ideal.
2cm (8 hour) tea lights can be used with some warmers (including our own Leonore warmer), but not all, so do follow the instructions provided with your specific product. With 2cm tea lights we do recommend that your warmer is used for no more than 4-5 hours at a time.
It is a good idea to use a fresh tea light each time you use your warmer, so that enough initial heat is generated to melt all of the wax in your warmer's dish.

TEMPERATURE
Temperatures produced by the different warmers and tea lights available on the market vary a lot, so it is worth noting that:
- A higher temperature = stronger fragrance / shorter fragrance life.
- A lower temperature = lighter fragrance / longer fragrance life.
Bear in mind, also, that your wax warmer will become a little hotter when used in warmer conditions; for this reason try to avoid placing it in direct sunlight or by a radiator.
FRAGRANCE COMBINATIONS
We are confident that you will love your Rosie & B wax melts just as they are. However, if you are feeling adventurous there is no reason why you can’t combine two melts to create your own unique fragrance. Just be sure to break your melts in half to avoid overfilling the dish of your warmer.
We hope you enjoy discovering the wax melts in the Rosie & B collection and the gorgeous fragrances that will fill your home.
